In 2017, Liberstad emerged with an ambitious vision: the creation of a private city within the borders of Norway. This city would be unlike any other—a place where all property is privately owned, and the idea of centralized government would be non-existent. In Liberstad, we stand firmly on the bedrock of natural rights, where all interactions are consensual and voluntary, devoid of coercion and force. However, Liberstad's mission extended far beyond the establishment of a private city. We were driven by a grander ambition—to forge a brand-new and entirely parallel society. A society that would operate independently, free from the constraints of traditional governance. Liberstad proudly identifies itself as a voluntaryist society, where all forms of aggression and the initiation of force are strictly prohibited. As voluntaryists, we can no longer reconcile ourselves with the conventions of traditional societies, where governments wield coercive power to organize and control. To live in alignment with our deeply ingrained moral and ethical values, it is essential that we separate ourselves from any system or organization reliant on the use of force, and which sustains itself through such means. Such a system starkly contradicts our vision of a civilized society and our fundamental principles on how humans should interact with one another.
We categorically reject the use of aggression in society, regardless of whether it is "legalized" by the state or endorsed by the majority. We firmly believe that such societies are inherently immoral and ethically deficient. In our steadfast commitment to upholding our principles and values, we have come to the realization that it is imperative to liberate ourselves from this prevailing system and the constraints of traditional societies. True freedom cannot be attained within the confines of state-controlled societies. The only rational and logical course of action is to create a new parallel society firmly grounded in the principles of non-aggression and natural rights. This new parallel society is being built from the ground up, with an unwavering foundation in voluntaryism. Since its inception, Liberstad has tirelessly worked towards this goal, striving to create a world where individuals can coexist in peace, prosperity, and freedom. It's essential to understand that this parallel society isn't confined solely to Liberstad; Liberstad is the genesis, the seed, and the first community in this new parallel world. Here, we lay the cornerstone for a genuinely civilized world—one where freedom reigns, where governments and their web of control structures are excluded and ignored. We extend an invitation to join us in this momentous paradigm shift, to become a free individual in our new liberated world. As Liberstad pioneers this vision, we welcome all who yearn for a society founded on the principles of liberty, voluntaryism, and reverence for natural rights. Together, we are shaping a new world where freedom and self-determination flourish, laying the groundwork for a brighter future marked by peace, freedom, prosperity.
