Section 1: Introduction
The Free City of Liberstad is a unique, independent community established to bring to life the principles of voluntaryism, individual sovereignty, and natural law. Founded on June 1, 2017, Liberstad is built on the belief that individuals should have the freedom to govern their lives and interactions through voluntary association, independent of external governmental authorities. This Membership Agreement formalizes the relationship between Liberstad and its members, defining guidelines, responsibilities, and benefits to support a community based on autonomy, respect, and cooperation.
The following subsections provide an introduction to the fundamental principles, structures, and expectations that guide life in Liberstad.
1.1 Overview of The Free City of Liberstad
The Free City of Liberstad is a sovereign, autonomous community where individuals interact freely and voluntarily, governed by the Liberstad Constitution and the principles of non-aggression and mutual respect. Liberstad operates without a central government, relying on a decentralized framework where specific administrative entities manage community functions such as membership, land registration, identity verification, and dispute resolution.
In Liberstad, all land, roads, and facilities are privately owned, and property owners are responsible for maintaining their areas. Members are expected to honor private property boundaries and adhere to guidelines set by property owners. Liberstad’s free-market economy allows members to engage in business and trade independently, with transactions based on voluntary agreements and free from external regulations.
The city’s founding document, the Liberstad Constitution, serves as the guiding framework for all community interactions, ensuring a shared foundation of values and mutual respect. Through its principles of self-governance and voluntary cooperation, Liberstad provides a community where individuals can live, work, and interact as autonomous participants. The city’s vision is to build a peaceful society that respects individual freedom, fosters personal responsibility, and upholds decentralized governance.
1.2 Purpose of the Membership Agreement
This Membership Agreement formalizes the voluntary relationship between members and The Free City of Liberstad, establishing a shared commitment to the city’s values and clarifying the rights, responsibilities, and obligations of membership. The agreement provides a framework that preserves members’ autonomy while ensuring respect for Liberstad’s principles of voluntaryism, self-governance, and the non-aggression principle.
By entering into this agreement, members commit to engaging with the Liberstad community in a manner that upholds individual sovereignty, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect. The agreement sets guidelines for membership tiers, identity verification, member conduct, and access to shared resources, and provides clarity on landownership, residency, and interactions with Liberstad’s administrative entities.
This document constitutes a binding contract between the member and the Liberstad Membership Organisation (LMO), governed by the legal framework of the Liberstad Constitution. It ensures that members uphold their obligations while preserving their autonomy, fostering a cooperative environment where individuals can thrive as part of a community dedicated to voluntary association.
1.3 Introduction to the Liberstad Membership Organisation (LMO)
The Liberstad Membership Organisation (LMO) is the primary entity responsible for managing membership within The Free City of Liberstad. It serves as the central point of engagement for members, facilitating access to benefits, resources, and opportunities to participate in the city’s development.
The LMO operates as an administrative entity aligned with Liberstad’s principles of voluntaryism and decentralized governance. Its primary responsibilities include processing membership applications, issuing and verifying FreeID identities, and serving as the communication bridge between members and other administrative entities. The LMO also organizes community events, manages access to the city’s free-market economy, and keeps members informed about developments within Liberstad.
As Liberstad continues to evolve, the LMO operates with limited capacity, emphasizing transparency and collaboration. Members are encouraged to support the community’s development with an understanding of the ongoing foundational work required to build Liberstad’s framework.
1.4 Introduction to Administrative Entities
The Free City of Liberstad operates through a network of decentralized administrative entities, each responsible for a specific aspect of the community’s functioning. This structure, which functions without a central government, ensures that Liberstad remains autonomous and that activities align with the principles of voluntaryism, self-governance, and respect for individual sovereignty.
Key administrative entities include:
-
The Council of The Free City of Liberstad: Provides strategic oversight and guidance, comprising the founders and contributors who have played key roles in Liberstad’s development.

1.5 Management of Public Areas
In The Free City of Liberstad, all public areas, such as roads, parks, paths, and communal spaces, are privately owned and managed by entities like Liberstad Estates. Members are granted access to these areas as part of their membership privileges, with guidelines for usage set by the managing entities. Fees collected from public area use support maintenance and improvements, keeping these spaces functional and accessible.
Members are expected to respect usage restrictions, such as limitations on motorized vehicles or activities that may impact the community’s tranquility. Entities responsible for public areas reserve the right to enforce rules and restrict access as necessary to maintain a peaceful and sustainable environment.
1.6 Operation of Private Businesses
Liberstad’s free-market economy allows private businesses to operate independently, free from regulation by external authorities or city administrative entities. Businesses within Liberstad are owned and managed by individuals or organizations that set their own terms of operation, including service conditions, pricing, and policies. Members are expected to respect the autonomy of business owners and adhere to each business’s terms of service.
Businesses may voluntarily register with the Liberstad Business and Organisation Registry (LBOR) to increase visibility and access additional benefits. Disputes with businesses are expected to be resolved through voluntary mechanisms, such as those offered by the Liberstad Dispute Resolution Organisation (LDRO).
1.7 Respect for Private Property and Businesses
Respect for private property is central to Liberstad’s philosophy. Members are expected to honor property boundaries, ownership rights, and the autonomy of both residential and commercial property owners. This includes respecting any rules set by property owners and avoiding unauthorized access or use.
Members are required to observe the non-aggression principle by refraining from actions that could harm or disrupt others’ property or business operations. Violations of property rights may result in penalties or restriction of access, as maintaining property rights is essential to Liberstad’s harmony and community values.
1.8 Organizational Development and Operational Status
The Free City of Liberstad and its administrative entities, including the LMO, are in an active phase of development. While foundational systems and policies are being established, members may occasionally experience limited capacity in services. Members are encouraged to participate in the city’s development with an understanding of this evolving phase, contributing constructively as the framework continues to grow.
The Council and administrative entities are committed to transparency and open communication, ensuring that members are informed of significant changes and developments. This stage of organizational growth relies on member support, patience, and collaboration to build a resilient, self-sustaining community founded on Liberstad’s core values.
1.9 Legal Framework and Enforceability

Members authorize the office to act as a trusted custodian until full decentralization of the system is achieved. Transparency and security measures are prioritized during this transitional period.
-
Identity Verification Process: Verification involves presenting proof of date of birth and undergoing in-person authentication to ensure the FreeID is securely linked to the individual.
Failure to comply with FreeID verification policies may result in restricted access to community benefits or suspension of membership privileges.
